9 Things you didn't know your Mac could do:
1/9 Switch between multiple windows of an app when ⌘ + Tab-ing
While ⌘ + Tab-ing, hold down command (⌘) and press the arrow up or arrow down when an app with multiple windows open. You can then select which image to open.
You can also press H to hide/show the selected app
2/9 Find a file in Finder from Spotlight
With a Spotlight search open find the selected file by clicking Command + R. A Finder window will then open.
3/9 Change which app that defaults open a certain file type
- Right click on a file
- Click on Get Info
- Click on Open With
- Select the app you want to use from the dropdown menu
- Click "Change all"
4/9 Reorder System preferences alphabetically
Tired of not finding anything in System Preferences?
Reorder all the elements alphabetically by going to View -> "Organise Alphabetically"
5/9 Zoom in to anything with your mouse / trackpad
- Open System Preferences
- Go to Accessibility
- Click on Zoom
- Enable "Use scroll gesture with modifier keys to zoom"
- You can now zoom by holding Control and scroll
6/9 Drag windows around without clicking your trackpad
- Open System Preferences
- Go to Accessibility
- Click on Pointer Control
- Click on Trackpad Options
- Check Enable dragging and select "three finger drag"
7/9 Remap the emoji picker to the Fn key.
This makes it much easier to show emojis.
- Go to System Preferences
- Open Keyboard
- Go to "Press Fn key to" and select "Show Emoji & Symbols"
- You can now press "fn" to get the emoji-picker
8/9 Additional menu items or alternate menus.
Holding Option (⌥) while having menus open or clicking items in the menu bar will give you additional menu items or alternate menus.
As an example the alternate wifi control menu let you see your IP- and router-address.
