Master Your iPhone Battery Life: 13 Hacks to Ensure You Never Run Out of Power Again! Explore Tips to Optimize Battery Performance.

Nothing frustrates us more than no battery on our iPhones. Here are 13 hacks to never run out of battery again:

1. Enable low power mode automatically before your battery reaches 20%.

Low power mode is automatically enabled when your battery reaches 20%, but you can turn it on earlier to save more:

  1. Open Shortcuts
  2. Click automation and create a new one
  3. Follow the guide:

2. Only turn on WiFi when you know you have a connection

WiFi uses less power than a cellular connection, but detecting WiFi nearby uses a lot of battery.

How to only enable Wifi when you are at home (or at work), and turn off when you leave in the Shortcuts app:

3. Limit when and how often apps access your location

Apps accessing your location is a major source of battery drain.

Fix it:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Go to Privacy > Location Services
  3. Review the list and edit settings by tapping on the name of each app in the list.

4. Turn off Background App Refresh

Apps pulling down data in the background drains battery.

  1. Go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh.
  2. Tap Background App Refresh to turn it off, or only over Wi-Fi
  3. Select which apps should be able to refresh in the background

5. Cut down on notifications

Every time you get a new notification and your screen lights up and vibrate you drain battery quicker.

Fix it:

  1. Go to Settings > Notifications
  2. Select each app and adjust if it can send you notifications by tapping on the toggle.

6. Turn off Siri suggestions

Siri makes suggestions based on your activity. That's great, but that means calculations in the background, which drains battery.

Here is how to turn it off:

  1. Settings > Siri & Search.
  2. Disable all Suggestions from Apple

7. Kill active listening

You can say "Hey, Siri" and ask a question without having to touch your iPhone. But that means the device is always listening, and draining battery. How to turn off:

  1. Go to Settings > Siri & Search
  2. Disable "Listen for 'Hey Siri.'"

8. Disable automatic downloads and app updates

Downloading apps and updating them in the background uses a lot of power. Turn it off:

  1. Go to Settings > App Store
  2. Turn off Automatic Downloads of Apps
  3. Turn off Automatic Downloads of Apps Updates

9. Turn on dark mode and turn brightness down

On devices with an OLED display (iPhone X, XS, XS Max, iPhone 11, and iPhone 12), Dark Mode can save quite a bit of battery life, so it's worth enabling:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Choose Display & Brightness
  3. Tap the "Dark" option

10. Don't close apps using the App Switcher

Many battery life guides suggest quitting apps, but this doesn't save battery life and can in fact drain more battery. Closing out an app removes it from the iPhone's RAM, requiring a reload when it reopens, which uses more battery.

11. Place iPhone face down

When you're not using your iPhone, place the handset face down. The device automatically detects this placement, and won't light up the display when alerts are received.

(You can also adjust Auto-Lock and turn off Raise to wake to get the same effect)

12. Turn off screen time and Fitness tracking

Some of Apples features uses energy to track you usage:

  1. Settings > Screen Time, scroll down to the bottom of the screen, then select Turn Off Screen Time
  2. Settings > Privacy > Motion & Fitness, then toggle off Fitness Tracking

13. Only make phone calls available when your battery goes lower than 5%.

When your battery is close to empty, your phone quickly dies. Here is how to get a few extra hours by automatically turning off Bluetooth, Wifi, and mobile data when it is close to empty:
